Any that is applied to the contact surfaces will wear off quickly yes. We recommend avoiding those areas though.

We just got replacements which we are looking for some kind of protestant so this will either abate or at least slow down the integrity of the straps from sun for
The steps are some kind of poly urethane like those on back packs h
